Dina C. Sullins
Dina C. Sullins, originally from Vancouver, began her career in agroforestry after working in diverse ecosystems across British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest. After completing advanced studies in ecology and plant biology, she undertook a postdoctoral fellowship focusing on plant-microbe interactions and biodiversity dynamics in agroecological systems. In 2014, she founded the SullinsLab at the University of Calgary, a research lab dedicated to studying the ecological and evolutionary processes in agroecosystems, with a small team of passionate researchers. Dina Sullins is currently a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Calgary. Her research focuses on plant-microbe interactions, functional biodiversity, and how these processes influence the sustainability of agricultural and forest ecosystems. She is also actively involved in initiatives aimed at promoting interdisciplinary research and inclusivity within the environmental sciences.
SullinsLab’s Team
Dan Heater
Dan Heater, from Toronto, holds a Master’s in environmental science and specializes in invasive species management. He currently leads common reed management projects in collaboration with the Pike River team and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
Lisa Cherry
Lise Cherry worked at the Great Lakes Forestry Centre, where she focused on forest management and conservation. She then joined the SullinsLab in Calgary, where she continues to contribute to research on agroforestry and ecosystem sustainability.
Arnaud Croteau
Arnaud Croteau, from France, completed his Master’s degree in 2013 at the University of Strasbourg. He joined the SullinsLab in Calgary during his PhD studies from 2019 to 2023 and now serves as a key contact for collaborations with France.
Mina Andraesen
Mina Andreasen earned her PhD in Norway and collaborated extensively with the SullinsLab from Oslo before officially joining the team as a resident researcher in 2021.
